Glass walls
the glass walls aren’t strong enough to hold the churning ocean back
eventually they break
and we all go running
to the people and places we think will keep us safe
my mother finds me and tells me to stay put
but a frantic woman is trying to steal my only connection back to her
“I need it more than you do” she tells me
I look around and realize I’m surrounded by strangers
and it’s the loneliest feeling of all
